Alita Battle Angel

Alita: Battle Angel is a 2019 American cyberpunk science-fiction action film. π€
The film was directed by Robert Rodriguez and co-produced and co-written by James Cameron. It is based on the famous Japanese manga series “Gunnm” (or Battle Angel Alita) by Yukito Kishiro.

Synopsis
Set in a post-apocalyptic future, the film follows Alita (played by Rosa Salazar), an amnesiac cyborg. She is found in a junkyard in Iron City by Dr. Dyson Ido (Christoph Waltz), who rebuilds her.
When she awakens, Alita has no memory of who she is or her past. While trying to discover her identity, she finds she possesses extraordinary combat skills. Alita embarks on a dangerous journey, fighting other killer cyborgs, competing in the brutal sport of “Motorball,” and trying to uncover the secrets of the mysterious floating city, Zalem.

Reception and Sequel
The film was widely praised for its groundbreaking visual effects (VFX), especially the creation of the fully CGI, yet incredibly expressive, Alita character.
Alita: Battle Angel ended on a cliffhanger, and a very passionate fan community (calling themselves the “Alita Army”) has continuously campaigned for a sequel. While the producers and director have expressed interest, a second film has not yet been officially confirmed.
